Miss Hampton II Harbor Cruises has been the exclusive Hampton Roads Harbor tour company for over 20 years, and you can bet that they've spent the whole time making their tours better and better. The standard tour departs from Historic Downtown Hampton (adjacent to the hotel) and offers a comfortably-paced cruise down Hampton River, into the Harbor and out to the Norfolk Naval Base with fascinating sights all along the way.

On this 2.5 to 3-hour tour, you'll see Hampton University, Blackbeard's Point, historic Fort Monroe and the Old Point Comfort Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in America still in operation today. While those landmarks are fun, some of the most impressive sights are actually on the water. Always a guest-favorite, the cruise will take you close by the military vessels and warships stationed at Norfolk Naval Base, including aircraft carriers and even nuclear-powered submarines on most days. On the way back, you'll float by the site of the famous Battle of the Ironclads.

If weather permits, your captain will dock the Miss Hampton II at Rip Raps Island, site of the intimidating Fort Wool. A 30-minute guided walking tour of the fort gives a talk-worthy glimpse into naval life during the American Civil War.*

If you're looking for even more, plan ahead for one of the exclusive all-day river cruises. These 8-hour excursions provide an unrivaled tour of the harbor and Intracoastal Waterway, including the cities of Norfolk and Portsmouth, a close-up of the USS Wisconsin and a passage through the Great Bridge. Hosted just a few times a year in May, September and October, this is the cruise for true history fans!

The standard harbor tour is offered Tuesday-Sunday from April to late October with departure times varying by the season. Adult admission is $22.50 and reservations are recommended. Visit the Web site.

After a fun morning cruise, you'll still have a full day ahead of you. Stop by Regatta Grille, our Hampton, Virginia hotel restaurant, for a hearty lunch with friends and family before heading back out to discover even more incredible Hampton, VA attractions.
